The Kennedy’s

Brian and I have been together for over 20 years now, equaling more than half our life.  We have created lots of amazing memories, but we have had many ups and downs along the way as well.  My hope is by sharing our journey as partners, we can begin to help others heal and bond together again.

To share a little bit about how we met, I will start by saying it was when I least expected it and I think he would say the same.  I had just graduated college and ended a 6 year long relationship with someone (2 years of high school and 4 years of college).  At that time, my heart was broken and I swore off dating  (like most girls who get their heart broken do to get over them, lol) as I headed home for the summer.  My plan was to hang out with my friends, relax, and focus on myself.

Fast Forward to his side of the story ( at least how I remember it for now). After high school, Brian needed to find a job with benefits so school was not his priority, although he always had a passion for reading.  While working full time he put himself through 2 years of college.  He received his Associate’s degree and made a plan to get out of town!  Three of his guys friends made a plan to move to Hawaii and they bought their tickets to leave, for 6 months later.

Summer was approaching and weather was getting nicer.  My girlfriends and I decided to go out to happy hour and my friend, Eilleen, said we were going to meet up with some of her friends.  He was one of them.

Over the next month, I swore we weren’t dating, but we hung out every day and night possible.  He was funny, charming, and swept me off my feet.  He was the exact opposite of they type of person I thought I was interested in.
